What? Horseradish as a diet aid? Horseradish is a relative of watercress, and it shares many of its healing benefits. Its isothiocyanantes provide strong antibiotic, antibacterial, and anticancer properties. Because horseradish has a high sulfur content, it is able to help people with digestion problems and it has been known to also clear up congestion; just a spoonful will is all it takes. I add horseradish to soups and vegetables dips; and in dips and sauces for roast meats and grilled fish.
Horseradish has only 2 calories in one teaspoon, and it is low in sodium and provides dietary fiber. Because it aids in digestion it is a benefit in helping you lose weight, in my opinion. When your digestion system isn’t working you carry around unwanted waste, food that is sitting there and rotting, basically. Gaining weight can make a happy person turn dismal. The one thing about horseradish is that it is strong in flavor. When you order prime rib at a restaurant it usually comes with horseradish sauce. It seriously doesn’t take much to get the desired effect.
