The Benefits Of Blueberries - August 31st, 2009

I absolutely love blueberries! I add them to my pancakes, muffins, breakfast cereals, ice cream and well, just about anything I can think of. I’m so grateful that I enjoy this wonderful berry because of it’s many healthy aspects. Did you know that blueberries contain fiber, vitamin C, Vitamin E, Folate, Riboflavin, Potassium, Iron, Manganese and are low in calories? Why in the world would you not want to eat more blueberries with all of that wonderful healthy yum yum!

Blueberries aid in digestive health because they are rich in pectin, a soluble fiber, blueberries work to relieve diarrhea and constipation. The tannins in blueberries reduce inflammation. If you don’t like eating whole blueberries I suggest making homemade blueberry jam or jelly. If you are just too busy and don’t have the time to prepare the jam yourself, I suggest buying some organic blueberry jam from your local health store.
